One of Europes biggest commercial and critical hits, Nimrod Antals stunning debut is a real discovery a hallucinatory, noir-ish thriller, soon to be a cult classic. In his darkly comic mystical vision, a hooded serial killer, a whipped-cream-spraying bandit, a girl dressed as a teddy bear, and a ragtag crew of metro ticket inspectors haunt the mysterious world of the Budapest subway. Lacking the authority of policemen, Bulcsu and his sorry crew are little more than disgruntled civil servants in red armbands, haggling with eccentric and belligerent fare-jumpers. They are the most reviled of city workers, constant targets of scorn, bullying and ridicule. But when a shadowy figure begins pushing people into the path of oncoming trains, the haunted young Bulcsu becomes the prime suspect, sinking deeper and deeper into a paranoid urban nightmare as dark and labyrinthine as the underground tunnels themselves.

Hungarian director Nimrod Antal was born in Los Angeles in 1973. He studied at the Pasadena Art Center in California and the Hungarian Academy of Drama and Film. He directed the short films Shooting Clown (1992) and Insurance (1999). Control is his feature debut.
