A film about a funeral, and about the customs associated with burial in a Bulgarian village. A Man Leaves Us examines the villagers relationship to their dead ancestors; it speaks about the place of death in a mans life, about what is common to all cultures and not just the people of one anonymous Bulgarian village.

MARTIN SLIVKA
Slovak director Martin Slivka was born in 1929. He attended Prague's Film and Television Academy (FAMU) in the midfifties. He made his first documentary in 1959, and from that time he has received more than 40 awards for his work. Slivka died in 2002.
